Can you hide someone on your snapchat friends list?

Yes, Snapchat does allow you to hide friends on your friends list so that they do not show up when viewing your list. This can be done easily within the Snapchat app by finding the friend you want to hide and tapping a few buttons.

Why would you want to hide someone on Snapchat?

There are a few main reasons why someone may want to hide a friend on their Snapchat friends list:

  • Privacy – To keep certain friendships private from others who may look at your friends list.
  • Avoid awkwardness – To avoid awkwardness with someone you no longer talk to regularly.
  • Appear offline – To appear offline or not active to certain friends.
  • Limit snaps – To limit snaps or stories you see from someone cluttering your feed.
  • Clear feed – To keep your friend feed clean and clear of unwanted snaps or stories.

Hiding friends can help customize your friends list and feed to see just the friends you want at any given time. It gives you more control over your Snapchat experience.

How to hide friends on Snapchat

Hiding a friend on Snapchat only takes a few taps within the app:

  1. Open your Snapchat app and tap on your profile icon in the top left corner.
  2. This will show your profile screen. Tap “My Friends” at the top.
  3. On the My Friends screen, tap the friend you want to hide.
  4. Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of their profile.
  5. Tap “Hide From My Friends List”.

That’s it! The friend will now be hidden from your friends list. They will not show up when you or anyone else views your list of friends.

Things to know about hiding Snapchat friends

  • You can still snap the friend you’ve hidden and they can still snap you – you just won’t see each other on friend lists.
  • You can unhide the friend at any time to add them back to your friends list.
  • The friend will not be notified when you hide or unhide them.
  • Hiding works both ways. If they hide you too, you both won’t show up on each other’s lists.
  • Friends you add to Groups on Snapchat will not show in those groups if you’ve hidden them.

How to unhide a friend

If you want to reverse hiding a friend and have them show up again on your Snapchat friends list, just follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Snapchat profile and tap “My Friends”
  2. Scroll down and tap “Hidden Friends”
  3. Tap on the friend you want to unhide
  4. Tap the gear icon in their profile again
  5. Tap “Show on My Friends List”

The friend will now be visible again on your main friends list. Unhiding is just as easy as hiding!

Can you hide your Snapchat score from friends?

Unfortunately there is no way to hide your Snapchat score from friends. Your Snapchat score is always visible to friends regardless of settings. The only way to hide it would be to delete those friends. Some things you can do include:

  • Disable snap score view settings – This stops your score from increasing when someone views your profile.
  • Hide best friends – So friends can’t see your top 3 friend scores.
  • Delete friends – The nuclear option to truly hide your score from specific people.

But there is no specific option to hide your score from friends while remaining friends with them on Snapchat.

How to hide your best friends on Snapchat

Your best friends on Snapchat appear under your profile and show the friends you snap with the most. If you want to hide these:

  1. Go to your profile and tap the settings gear icon
  2. Tap “See My Best Friends”
  3. Toggle “My Best Friends” off

This will remove the best friends section from your profile so nobody can see who you snap with the most!

How to appear offline on Snapchat

Snapchat does not have a true offline or invisible mode. However, you can make yourself appear offline in a couple ways:

  • Airplane mode – Enabling airplane mode before opening Snapchat means you won’t load new stories or show as online.
  • Ghost mode – You can enable Ghost mode in settings so friends can’t see your location.
  • Hide from quick add – In settings, hide yourself from quick add so randoms can’t find you.
  • One-on-one only – Change who can see your story to “My Friends” so only direct snaps show your activity.

Combining these options means only your actual friends will see when you’re online and active. For everyone else, you will appear offline on Snapchat even though there is no direct offline mode.

How to limit story and snap notifications

If certain friends are cluttering up your feed and notifications, you can limit their snaps and stories specifically:

  • Mute stories – Press and hold on their name, then “Mute [name]’s stories.”
  • Mute messages – Press and hold their name, then toggle “Receive notifications” off.
  • Hide their content – Press and hold on their name, then “Hide [name]’s content.”

Doing this for friends who post too much keeps their content from cluttering up your feed. You can still view their profiles directly when you want to see their content.

Other Snapchat feed and friends list tips

  • Edit privacy settings – Customize who can contact you, view stories, see your location and more.

  • Create favorites – Add close friends to your Favorites list at the top of your feed.
  • Use Group chats – Make Groups to easily send snaps to subsets of friends.
